COMUNIDAD DE LENGUA PORTUGUESA_PROYECTO

Latina Community

The Latin community has been present at the Parish of Bethlehem for more than 20 years. It was founded by a young Brazilian. More than 40 young people from different countries in America participated, calling themselves 'The Friends of Bethlehem.' They were involved in Youth Ministry, and in 2003, they went to Madrid for the Youth Encounter with Pope John Paul II; and in 2011, they attended the World Youth Day with Pope Benedict XVI.

The typical dynamics of migrant groups led some to return to their countries of origin, while others stayed and formed families. Now, together with other migrants, they continue their pastoral work. The goal is to welcome newcomers and keep alive the faith that Latin Americans carry in their hearts. They value the devotion and cultural tradition of different countries, celebrating respective festivals such as Mamita de Cotoca, Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Guadalupe, and the Three Kings. They have formed the Prayer Group Jesus Maria, which visits families that open their doors to pray the Rosary. After the gathering, there is a shared meal.

The Latin community participates in the Social Pastoral and Caritas of the parish and is represented in the Pastoral Council. They also take part in excursions and programs of the 'Caminem junts en la diversitat' project of the Archdiocese of Barcelona.

The regular activities of the community include the Rosary and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every first Saturday of the month at 6:30 PM in the Rosary Chapel, and on Sundays at 7:00 PM, the Eucharistic Celebration, where they participate in music ministry, commentary, and readings.
